PHILOSOPHY

Thousands of children all over America pack up each summer for an adventure in the outdoors. Their lives can be greatly enriched by the outdoors environment and community activity experience at a summer camp. This has been particularly true for campers at Cloverleaf Ranch.

The goal of Cloverleaf Ranch is to offer our campers the experience of living on a working ranch and the program centered on this is one of controlled freedom. We program our time, always keeping in min the safety of the campers, but not so structured that it cannot be fun and free from the restrictions of home and school. A program that is not only safe and fun, but also a learning experience, which develops the camper in many ways, is also an important goal of Cloverleaf Ranch.

To create and maintain a safe environment at all times
To provide adequate supervision (i.e., 1:5 staff to camper ratio)
To deliver a happy and fun filled summer holiday
To increase the campers' social skills with peers and adults
To develop the campers' mental and physical health
To develop the campers' confidence, trust and self-esteem
To demonstrate a sense of responsibility in camp, camp activities and personal living skills
To develop a sense of responsibility in campers for making their own program decisions
To develop leadership through physical, moral and intellectual activities

To acquire a greater understanding of the care and management of horses
To expand in physical skills

Objectives of the Camper: (it's important for the staff to understand why campers come to camp)

To learn new things (i.e., swim or ride a horse)
To be well liked
To be with friends
To be on their own, away from parents, brothers and sisters
Because of the activities (riflery, archery, arts and crafts)
Return to camp because of a certain staff member
